Teachers work together to meet the needs of the children, to enrich the environment, and to plan and implement the curriculum. The curriculum emerges from the daily life and interest of the children and adults in the program. Spontaneity always has a place in environments where young children play and learn.
Our great teacher to child to ratios allow us to plan and investigate topics of interest to the children. California state regulations require 1 teacher to every 12 children. At LSH we maintain a ratio of 1 teacher to every 8 children and during our small group time we typically have 1 teacher for every 5 children.
The Lady Bug's, ages two to three and a half, are guided by two Teachers. Each day this group of 11-12 children explores art and nature while enhancing their social and emotional skills.Small group time includes stories, songs, and investigation of topics of interest.
The Butterflies, ages 3 and a half to entering Kindergarten, are guided by two Teachers. Each day this group explores the world around them through art, nature, stories and inquiry. The teachers Guide the children by building on the child's interest and curiosity so that each child reaches their potential. Children in this group acquire the necessary skills for entry into Kindergarten.
